Yard-Sign Visibility Guide
A yard sign is usually read from a moving vehicle or at a distance. Visibility depends less on how much information fits and more on how quickly the most important information can be recognized.
Use a short message
Prioritize a brand or service, one outcome, and one response method. If every detail is the same visual weight, none of it will read quickly. Put supporting information on other materials or the landing page.
Create contrast
Use a dark-on-light or light-on-dark combination, keep photographs simple, and give the headline breathing room. Thin type, long URLs, and dense lists are difficult to read from a road.
Choose a size for the setting
A 24 × 18 sign is a common planning reference, but the right finished size depends on distance, speed, placement, local rules, and the amount of approved copy. Rider signs and die-cut shapes should support, not compete with, the main message.
Review the physical setup
- Confirm material, thickness, print sides, orientation, and stake compatibility.
- Protect critical content with bleed and safe-area guides.
- Check expected wind, weather, ground, and installation conditions.
- Obtain property permission and follow applicable sign rules.
- Verify packaging, production time, and shipping before a campaign date.
